About

Renata Townsend is a multidisciplinary artist and educator who creates meaningful experiences for intergenerational audiences. With over 15 years of classroom experience, she designs learning spaces that spark curiosity, creativity, and joy.

Renata teaches and directs Theater for Young Audiences at Montclair State University, where she built a touring children’s theater program that brings original plays into local schools. As a Teaching Artist, she has collaborated with organizations including The New Victory Theater, Lincoln Center Theater, St. Ann’s Warehouse, Opening Act, and the New York City Department of Education.

Her consulting and writing work spans children’s media, theater, and education, with projects for Netflix, Warner Bros. Discovery’s Cartoonito, Fred Rogers Productions, and the Reading Rainbow reboot. She has also created educational materials for Broadway productions including SIX, Jagged Little Pill, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Oklahoma!.

Across immersive theater, television, podcasts, streaming, and live performance, Renata crafts experiences that center storytelling, play, and learning. At the heart of her work is a core belief that stories and laughter connect people across generations and create memories that last a lifetime.

Renata holds a BFA in Acting from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and a Master’s in Applied Theatre from the City University of New York, SPS.
